Welcome

Welcome to Skyline School, Home of the Waves! We are a unique school housing two outstanding educational programs, our 4th-6th grade program and our Global Education K-6 program.

Skyline is the recipient of the 2012 California Distinguished School Award. This recognition was achieved through the hard work of our students, committed and dedicated teachers and staff, and our active and involved parents.

Our Parent Teacher Association and the Solana Beach Schools Foundation provide substantial financial and volunteer support to our school, supporting specialized programs, technology, science, art, music and physical education.

    Dear Parents/Guardians:

This week is Staff Appreciation Week. Skyline’s amazing teachers and staff members are dedicated, professional, and care a great deal for your children. Our students are in very good hands each and every day as they grow academically, socially and personally. And, our team feels very grateful to have such fabulous students and parents to work with here at Skyline! I would like to express our appreciation for our wonderful PTA, and particularly our PTA President, Diana Maitland Baker, who has helped organize our Staff Appreciation Week. We had delicious breakfast treats on Monday, mini massages on Tuesday, and a delicious taco luncheon today! The staff agreed that the mini massages were the best part of the week. I think it was truly one of the best gifts you could give to our teachers. Skyline is so fortunate to have such a caring and committed community, and we thank you all for your thoughtfulness and kindness.

    Student Toys

Every year there seems to be a new toy that becomes an instant favorite with our students. This year the fidget spinner seems to be the current favorite.   Students were bringing these fidget spinners to play with, and they were soon becoming a distraction, both in the classroom and out on the playground because many were flying off of student’s fingers and hitting other students in the process. We told all students that they were to leave their fidget spinners at home three weeks ago, and if they were seen at school, that they would be brought to the office. I would like to ask all parents to remind your students to keep these fidgets at home.   If they are brought to the office, your child may come at the end of the day to retrieve their spinner, but must not bring it back to school again. Some of our students do require fidgets in the classroom to help with attention and focus.   However, we ask that you talk with your child’s teacher to determine which is the best fidget to support your child’s learning. Thank you, we appreciate your support.
